So much good has come into my life through Christian Science that I should like to bring my tithe of gratitude into the storehouse. For years my great desire was to find Truth. Just over five years ago divine Love brought me in touch with the first Christian Scientist I had ever met. I did not know that she was a Christian Scientist. When I told her of the neuralgia, neuritis, and facial abscess from which I had suffered continuously for over three months, she mentally affirmed the truth, and I was instantaneously healed. Since then I have had many physical healings, many of them instantaneous. Among them were scalded face and hands, tonsillitis, influenza, rheumatism.
The healing of which I should especially like to speak occurred in the spring of 1923. I was attacked by a paralytic stroke. To sense my sight was almost gone. My speech was seriously affected, and there was facial disfigurement. I asked help from a practitioner. At the first treatment the sight was restored, and the next day the speech became normal. In a week the disfigurement had disappeared, and there was not the slightest trace of the error left.
I cannot say how grateful I am for the overcoming of the fear of death. For years before I knew of Christian Science I was daily and hourly in bondage to this fear. Then at one time, when passing through deep waters, by loving help given in Christian Science I was lifted right above this fear and was able to sing with Daniel, "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me."
