Twenty years ago, during a period of great distress and sorrow, I accompanied a dear aunt to Christian Science services, from which I received great comfort and the necessary confidence to face the future. Christian Science has protected and guided me throughout these years, and I rejoice that I am able to give testimony to its healing and protective power. A severe eye ailment was cured while I was reading Christian Science literature; and I am thankful that I no longer need glasses.
One of my earliest demonstrations came in 1907, when I was enabled to fulfill the requirements of a difficult position by the application of Mrs. Eddy's statement on page 260 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Science reveals the possibility of achieving all good, and sets mortals at work to discover what God has already done; but distrust of one's ability to gain the goodness desired and to bring out better and higher results, often hampers the trial of one's wings and ensures failure at the outset."
Through the study and application of Christian Science I am being freed from annoying characteristics; and I am increasingly thankful for all of the encouragement and help given by loving practitioners. Realization of the power contained in the promises of the ninety-first psalm not only gave me protection during an epidemic, but made it possible for me to be helpful to my fellow-men.
