Testimonies of Healing

In Psalms we are admonished,...

From the May 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Psalms we are admonished, "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts." And so I feel impelled to use the channel provided by our periodicals to voice my deep gratitude for God's goodness and for His constant care and guidance. It is to Christian Science that I owe the understanding which is enabling me to realize more, day by day, that God is All-in-all, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, as our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, defines Him in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" and this understanding is enabling me to overcome faults of character, such as resentment, sensitiveness, fear in its various phases, self-condemnation, and self-justification.

It was a lecture on Christian Science which first excited my interest and wonder in it; and since then I have not had the slightest doubt that Christian Science teaches the truth about God and man. It was not for physical healing but for spiritual enlightenment that I turned to Christian Science; however, it has been my only physician these last eight years, healing me of influenza, indigestion, severe colds, coughs, and other ills.

Christian Science has been an ever present help in our family in solving our daily problems; and it would be impossible to live without using to the best of our understanding the Principle it teaches. For all this I wish to express my sincerest love and reverence for our beloved Leader; for her exemplary life; for all her writings, through which I am gaining an understanding of the work and words of the Way-shower, Christ Jesus; for the establishment of The Mother Church and its branch churches; for our Church Manual; for the work of The Christian Science Board of Directors; for our lecturers; for the Reading Rooms; and for all our periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor. I also want to express gratitude for the loving practitioners who have so efficiently and faithfully helped me in the healing of disease and discord; and, last but far from least, I am deeply grateful for class instruction.—
