Poems

[Written for the Journal]

STEP BY STEP

From the May 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Oh, Father, in my heart set firmly
There is a hope that Thou art All.
Somewhere a "still small voice" is saying,
Wilt thou not heed My loving call?

This hope brings faith into my bosom,
The faith that trusts my all to Thee.
Though blindly I may seem to wander,
I feel Thy loving care for me.

Oh, upward now, more surely upward,
My hope and faith new blessings bring,
My burdens lightened. Love impels me
To move still on, and gladly sing.

Upon the Rock secure I 'm trusting,
For, as Thy truth unfolds to me,
Hope, faith, belief—then understanding—
Turn all my worship up to Thee.
