Testimonies of Healing

From the May 1927 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with great gratitude for what Christian Science has done, and still is doing, not only in my own family but throughout the whole world, that I send this testimony.

One of the things for which I am very grateful is the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School when a girl. The understanding obtained there has helped me so much through these later years. It was during those first years that my mother was healed of an abnormal growth in five days, that my sister was instantaneously healed of severe earache, and that I was healed of bilious spells. The bilious spells were overcome through reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. These had previously been yearly attacks, but I have never had a return of them. Later, my mother was healed of inflammatory rheumatism. My grandfather became interested on being healed of sleeplessness. My aunt was healed of deafness caused by catarrh. There have been so many benefits received in our family that it would be impossible to name them all.

I have found Christian Science invaluable in overcoming the children's little ills. I also wish to express my gratitude for the dear practitioner who has been a guide and a loving friend since childhood, always ready with encouraging words and help. About five years ago I had influenza. I asked the practitioner for only one absent treatment, or I am sure I would have been healed much more quickly. A month or so after I was better I noticed that my hair was falling out. My mother and I both became very much frightened. I immediately silenced my fear and kept studying, with the result that when I next thought of my hair, some months later, it was longer and thicker than before. The thing for which I am most grateful is that I am learning to know the true God, which understanding enables us to have that peace "which passeth all understanding" and to fear nothing; for all good comes to those who know and love God.
