For about five years I had known and been interested in Christian Science. I read it and loved it, but did not take a positive stand for Truth. During that time I never attended the church I was brought up in; neither did I attend the Christian Science church. However, I never missed lectures on Christian Science when given in our city.
After going to a dentist and specialist for almost a year to gain relief from a serious antrum trouble, I turned to Christian Science and was immediately healed. This healing was so beautiful to me, and so uplifting, that from then on I really did strive to understand this wonderful truth that had made me free.
A year later a deep sorrow and serious illness came into my life, but I clung to Christian Science, and then I learned that "trials are proofs of God's care," as Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 66), for then I really wanted to know God and learn of man's true relationship to Him. The trials and deep sorrow helped me to understand that God is Life. When days and nights have been darkest, some reading either in Science and Health or in the Journal, Sentinel, or Hymnal has always dispelled the gloom.
