For many years God has been my only physician. When I first became interested in Christian Science I was wearing glasses for a very serious condition which a specialist termed muscle trouble. From two to four hours each day I wore two pairs of glasses, the extra pair to strengthen the muscles. The glasses were a torture, causing greater pain, instead of relief. At the end of thirteen months, when it seemed that I could endure the pain no longer, Christian Science was presented to me. I soon realized that if I could learn and practice the truth taught in Christian Science I would not need glasses, as sight is spiritual, and with this truth we need no assistance from any material source. In three weeks I took off the glasses and felt greatly relieved; but for the benefit of those who may seem to be discouraged because a condition is slow to yield, I will state that the complete healing covered a period of several years, and only as I searched the Scriptures for spiritual understanding, and worked honestly and persistently, was I rewarded with a greater manifestation of freedom.
While this is only one of the many physical healings that have come to me, it is in itself sufficient to prove the power of divine Principle to heal, and I am more grateful for Christian Science than I can express in words.
The understanding that brings with it the physical healing has, when properly applied, also healed all other problems which have been presented to me, and enabled me to be of better service to the Cause of Christian Science, which is so much needed in the world to-day. In Mrs. Eddy's beautiful poem "Christ and Christmas" we read (p. 7):
