For twenty-five years I was a slave to medicine; and why it is that the human race will continue to rely on earthly remedies for their ailments when the balm of Gilead is at their very door, is now a mystery to me. Taking some kind of medicine almost daily, I would be all right for a few days, then have to take to my bed again, perhaps for two or three months at a time. When at last the doctors said I would have to go to a sanitarium to remain at least three months, but that I would never be cured, my wife purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read part of it and began to see the light; then I said to her, "Let us go to a practitioner." Well, we went; and we had not been in her home twenty minutes when I began to feel a change. After leaving her home I felt still better; and the next night I was completely healed of all my afflictions, and have had no return of any of them since.
I was cured as just stated of extreme nervousness, a very bad case of piles, constipation, and what the doctors said was a severe case of uric acid poisoning. I have had no return of any of these difficulties, and am in better health to-day than I have been in thirty years. I can eat anything I wish, and I sleep like a healthy child; so faithfulness alone can express my gratitude to God for Christian Science, and to the dear practitioner for the patience with which she showed me the way, and for her help in leading me and mine into the light. I had been a Bible student all my life, but had never understood the Good Book until reading and studying Science and Health. Glory be to God, and loving appreciation to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
Among other ailments, for over sixty years I had a diseased ear with a discharge. I had several operations performed on it, among them a mastoid operation; but without any cure. Thanks to God and Christian Science I was completely cured of it also; and since the cure there has been no return of the discharge. So we praise our Father-Mother God daily for the more than wonderful benefits we have received through Christian Science, and are thankful for the Christian Science literature, which we read and study with more delight than any reading we have ever done before.—Brunswick, Georgia.
