In loving gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy, and with the desire to help others, I bear witness to the healing power of Christian Science. From childhood I had been a semi-invalid, suffering constantly from pain and weakness and exhaustion. I had had many physicians, and was often obliged to be in bed weeks at a time under the care of a nurse. Three years ago, when "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was lent me to read, I did not know that people were healed by reading the book; in fact, I did not know that Christian Science healed; but I was earnestly seeking for something above the mortal sense of life. I had read only a short time when I knew that Science and Health revealed the truth about God that I had long sought, and its pages all seemed illumined. As I continued to read, the truth of spiritual being dawned on my consciousness. I seemed to forget my body, and often felt as if I were walking on air; and I knew that man is well and strong and free.
All that summer I eagerly read and reread every book Mrs. Eddy had written, and I have never ceased to study and ponder them daily. For the last three years I have had the joy of working day after day, early and late, without any sense of weariness or fatigue. My family and friends often observe my activity with awe. I am grateful for class instruction, and I rejoice in helping others.
Christian Science is the light of the world, "forever giving forth more light, because it has no darkness to emit," as Mrs. Eddy says (No and Yes, p. 16), and this divine healing light is bringing to humanity health, and joy, and peace. I revere and love our Leader, who is the prophet and revelator to this age; and I know that in the years to come the whole world will realize this, and love her too.— Binghamton, New York.
