When I was quite a young girl I suffered with typhoid fever, which left me mentally exhausted and extremely nervous. For three years many material remedies were tried. My mother, who was living in a distant city, became interested in Christian Science, and treatment was given me. I started to improve, but did not accept the teachings of Christian Science until years later. After suffering with an abdominal trouble for four years and undergoing a severe surgical operation for it, I broke down physically and mentally. For days I did not realize where I was but was conscious of suffering agony; and then a call from God came to me. I arose from my bed, and found a loving Christian Science practitioner. This time I knew the truth which Christian Science reveals to be the truth which Jesus spoke of when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Since this beautiful healing I have had many blessings. I was healed of influenza in less than a week; colds, headaches, a sore condition of the hands, and neuritis of the face have all yielded to this truth. While I am grateful for all the physical and mental help I have received, I am more grateful still that I am learning that Christian Science regenerates.
I am grateful for learning to know God as Father and Mother and that He does care for His children. This understanding in a small way has brought me peace. I am grateful for the Christian Science church services and for the Christian Science lectures I have heard. I shall never forget the joy that was mine as I listened to my first Christian Science lecture, where the speaker brought out the truth that there is but one Mind, God, and that man reflects divine intelligence. Before this I thought I was responsible for the intelligence I had, and this was a burden to me; so I was indeed grateful when the load was lifted.
