In 1918 my mother was takenvery seriously ill, and several doctors told me that she would not live long. However, she recovered, but was taken very ill again a little later. Neither my mother nor I thought anyone could do anything for us, but we decided to ask a Christian Science practitioner for help, as we had been reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Herolds for some time. One night after my mother had left her bed and I was trying to assist her to lie down again, I thought she would not live to see the next morning. For a moment I was discouraged, but through the patient help of the loving practitioner I had learned to understand that God is our Life, and I repeated aloud in my mother's ear Mrs. Eddy's words from the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer: "For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love, over all, and All" (Science and Health, p. 17. Then to the best of my understanding I tried to realize God's omnipotence. I was filled with peace, and soon afterwards noticed that my mother was breathing regularly and quietly. She slept until late in the morning, and when I notified the practitioner we were quite calm. Even though the healing was slow, we were certain that God would help us. After almost a year of suffering my mother was able to read, knit, and sew again. Later on she was instantaneously healed of an ulcer and hemorrhages of long duration. She is now eighty-five years of age, and reads the Herolds with great interest. We are very grateful to know that in Mind there is neither age nor decrepitude.
