Testimonies of Healing

This testimony is the expression...

From the October 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This testimony is the expression of deep experiences covering years of yearning, suffering, and the triumph of Soul-sense over material sense.

For some years I had been an earnest student of Christian Science, gaining many healings and much light, but never much constant health or strength; and since childhood a deep hunger had remained unsatisfied, a longing for more unfoldment. At this time a great grief came to me through the passing on of a dear twin sister after years of effort to understand enough of Principle to raise her burden. Through the upheaval brought on by this grief the "veil ... was rent; "Christ, Truth, had made plain the nature of the hidden phases of error at work. This experience covered months of illness, with a song of joy running through it because of the mystery solved.

Through the Godlike patience and tender care given me, at last came regeneration, health for the first time, and the learning of the meaning of the word "I" for the "we" formerly used. Idolatry had been lost sight of, leaving room for a tender love for family. The effect of this healing has been widespread in. its beneficence, as well as the turning point in my consciousness of the established healing work of Christian Science manifested in benefiting suffering humanity. May this message of healing reach someone who may be passing through the separating fire of the "gold" and "dross," and uplift that one with the same song of joy running through the suffering, knowing it to be portentous. Our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, understood so well the thought-processes necessary for receiving when she tells us in her Message to The Mother Church for 1900 (p. 15), "The Passover, spiritually discerned, is a wonderful passage over a tear-filled sea of repentance—which of all human experience is the most divine; and after this Passover cometh victory, faith, and good works."
