While I was taking a bath late one cold night an electric heater was in use, being stationed on a high hamper at the end of the tub. Thinking that the heater was not receiving current, I reached out while sitting in the tub of water and put my hand on the electric coil in the center of the heater. Immediately the current passed through my body, and as I attempted to take my hand away, it drew the heater with it and the latter fell on my back in the water. The tub of water became electrified along with my body, and complete paralysis of the body seemed to follow. I lost all sense of life in matter, but later awakened to find that I was still alive. A voice said to me, "There is no death in Life." As this was realized, I was instantaneously released. The same material conditions of the electrified tub were still in evidence; but I was free, and so was able to remove the electric heater from the tub and get out myself. There were no ill effects whatever from this experience.
Our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," on page 427, that "nothing can interfere with the harmony of being nor end the existence of man in Science;" also, on page 293, she says, "Electricity is not a vital fluid, but the least material form of illusive consciousness, —the material mindlessness, which forms no link between matter and Mind, and which destroys itself."— Longmeadow, Massachusetts.
