I am profoundly grateful for the many healings and valuable experiences which I have had in Christian Science. I am particularly grateful for a healing which came to me through attending a lecture on Christian Science given in a local theater about a year ago. At the time I had a small growth in the auditory canal of one of my ears which had begun to manifest itself more than a year previously and seemed to be gradually growing larger. Since it had not at first given me any particular physical discomfort or annoyance, I had never asked for help, but had myself worked intermittently to overcome the fear that it might continue to grow until it completely obstructed the passage. During a few weeks previous to my attending this lecture it had been causing some pain, and I was not able to lie on that side of my head at night. As the lecturer recounted the healing of another woman, the thought came to me, "Surely, since 'God is no respecter of persons' I can be healed of this erroneous condition." I pondered this thought deeply on leaving the theater, and continued to do so for about two weeks, during which time the condition of the ear seemed to grow aggravated. One day, when there seemed to be considerable irritation and itching, a small, clean kernel came out, leaving no evidence in the ear of ever having been attached to it; and the condition has been perfectly normal ever since.
This experience has given me a keener appreciation of the wisdom of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in providing the lectures as one of the channels through which the truth as taught in Christian Science is being brought to a world hungering and thirsting for freedom from false beliefs, such as sickness, sin, sorrow, poverty.—Detroit, Michigan.
