Eight years ago I was in an invalid chair, refusing to have an operation which a specialist said was quite necessary if I wanted to walk without difficulty. This specialist was consulted because he was opposed to operations in general, and we were hoping that his verdict would be different from that of other doctors. I would not consent to an operation, as I did not think God worked that way.
Through a sister abroad, and kind friends who were near me, I heard of Christian Science and gladly accepted it. With help from a practitioner I was gradually and completely healed, first of all, of what was to me a very great grief, and, finally, of the physical condition, which I know now was caused by the grieving mental condition.
Since then other physical troubles have been healed, including rheumatism, influenza, inflammation, appendicitis, beliefs of heredity, and so forth, also the fear of these things; but I am most grateful for the purification of thought which Christian Science brings, enabling one to reflect God more clearly. I am also grateful for the wonderful sense of protection I have experienced when traveling. When I realize that Christian Science includes every reform with which I have longed to be associated, I can never be sufficiently grateful that I am a member of The Mother Church and a branch church. I can never give sufficient thanks for Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, and Christ Jesus, whose loyalty to God and devotion to mankind have brought us out of darkness into the light of this beautiful truth.—London, England.
