I took up Christian Science for physical healing about nine years ago. I had experienced ill health since girlhood, with no hope from material remedies. An appointment was made to go to a Christian Science church one Wednesday evening. As I entered, my first impression was one of love and peace.
I studied Christian Science earnestly for three or four years with no improvement. I heard many testimonies to the effect that physical healing was a great blessing but that the knowledge of God was far greater than anything else; but I sincerely thought that physical healing would be the grandest blessing that could possibly come to me, because then I could work, be active, and take my place in life. One day when I picked up my books to read, these thoughts came to me: What am I doing all this reading for? Why am I putting in all this time with these books? Then the answer came: I want to know God; I want to see how His law operates, so that I can make my own terms with sickness. I then felt the love and gratitude of a little child. Since that time I have experienced a gradual improvement in general health, disposition, and patience. I have been entirely healed of stomach and bowel trouble, chronic headaches, catarrh, sore throat, cough, biliousness, and a tendency to take cold.
