I am most grateful for Christian Science, which was first presented to me about fifteen years ago, when I was greatly in need of physical healing. I seemed to be on the verge of a nervous collapse, suffering with insomnia, for which I had been taking sleeping powders for a number of years. I had been advised by a specialist to have an immediate operation for a growth that had been removed but had reappeared, causing me great suffering. Two days before the operation was to be performed, Christian Science treatment was begun, resulting in almost instant relief, and at the end of two weeks I was completely healed. Not only had the growth disappeared, but other ailments were healed at the same time. I was filled with joy and gratitude, and began at once an earnest study of the Bible together with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from which I gained a wonderful sense of peace and a deep faith in God's power to heal and protect. As I continued my study and caught a glimpse of the truth about man, realizing that mortal mind is the cause of all discord and disease, and that God, divine Mind, heals both sin and disease, I was able many times to work out my own problems.
I have been healed through Christian Science of pleurisy, neuralgia, stomach trouble, sensitive throat, earache, tonsillitis, and many other ailments, and I know that Christian Science does heal when rightly applied for this has been proved to me many times.
I have had a number of instantaneous healings. About a year after I became interested in Christian Science I became very ill with tonsillitis. I had a high fever and my throat was sore and much swollen, causing great difficulty in breathing. I became frightened and sent for a practitioner to come to me. Soon after treatment was begun, the fever and pain left me, but the swelling remained. However, I slept soundly all night, and when I awakened the next morning all trace of the ailment had disappeared and I was completely healed. There has been no return of the trouble, though previous to this time I had been subject to frequent attacks.
