Testimonies of Healing

I wish to express my sincere gratitude...

From the August 1930 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the many blessings we have received through the study and application of Christian Science. We have great cause for gratitude in the healing of our eight-year-old son during an epidemic of infantile paralysis.

This little boy was seemingly very ill, and when a doctor examined him he said that he was paralyzed from head to foot, and also had spinal meningitis. He told me that he had but one chance in ten to live. He also told other people that the child could not live until morning. We had previously had many beautiful healings in Christian Science and trusted God. We immediately notified the practitioner of the doctor's verdict and were reassured over the telephone of God's unfailing love and protecting care. The child lay in a semiconscious condition, peaceful and restful, until two o'clock the next morning, when, from another room, where my husband and I were reading, we heard him distinctly call for water. Upon arriving at his bedside we found him sitting erect. He drank the water unaided, turned completely over, and again fell asleep. At half past seven the following morning, while the rest of the family were at breakfast, he came walking out of his bedroom, saying he was very hungry. He sat at the table with us and ate a hearty breakfast, then walked back unaided to the bed. In a week he was out of doors playing. During this week of convalescence many erroneous conditions were lovingly met. One for which we are very grateful was the healing of enlarged tonsils and adenoids. For the first time for some years he was able to breathe freely through his nostrils. He is now in better physical condition than he has ever been. Words fail to express our gratitude.

We are grateful for the loving help of practitioners, for the bountiful supply of authorized Christian Science literature, for the Sunday school which our boys attend, and for the lectures which have been such a benefit to us in helping us to understand the truth which makes free.—
