[Written for the Journal]

JOHN AT PATMOS

From the January 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

He spoke of peace and comfort and rejoicing;
He told us of a Father who is Love.
He said, No more shall men be held in bondage
For they shall turn their thought to Him above.

The old red dragon which is devil, evil,
No more shall it hold men beneath its sway,
For they shall know the kingdom of the Father,
And they shall walk the peaceful, blessed way.

And wars shall cease, and Love shall reign supernal,
The universal brotherhood of man,
One in the Father, one with the eternal,
Knowing themselves as part of His great plan.
