Having received much help and encouragement from the testimonies appearing in our periodicals, and thinking of Jesus' loving admonition, "Freely ye have received, freely give," I am led to express my grateful appreciation for the many healings and blessings I have had in Christian Science during the past several years. I had been opposed and even antagonistic for some time to what I thought was Christian Science. My wife had been attending the church services occasionally with a dear friend during a period of about six months before I asked for help. We were then living in a city in the Middle West. I was run down mentally and physically, and went to a hospital for treatment for neurasthenia and physical exhaustion. This condition was complicated with other chronic troubles, including tuberculosis, which seemed to be of hereditary origin, and which I had not mentioned to even my closest friends because of the great fear it held over me.
I had reached my "extremity," and now it was "God's opportunity." I talked the situation over with my wife. A Christian Science practitioner was called and the work taken up. The hospital treatment was at once abandoned and medicine discontinued. After about three days' treatment I was freed of the above-mentioned diseases. I knew then that Christian Science was the truth and that it did heal.
My opposition and antagonism gone, the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Christian Science Quarterly were purchased. We began to study the Lesson-Sermon daily and to attend the church services. As we gained an understanding of God as Love, our home life became more harmonious. For this supreme blessing I am deeply grateful.
