I accepted Christian Science largely for the spiritual growth and uplifting which followed. There were also, however, healings of severe headache, colds, and nervous trouble. A healing came finally which will always stand out as preëminent, for it was a victory over that which in medical science would be called a nervous breakdown, accompanied by physical disorders. The experience was an intensive one, in which I made a desperate effort to gain and to hold to right and normal consciousness. The struggle was incessant to keep consciousness from going into oblivion. There had to be constant effort to separate spiritual thinking from material.
One of the fears to be overcome was the fear of death. An especially uplifting moment came to heal this fear, in which thought ascended to a high altitude, where it was seen that man is at-one with the Father, infinite Life, wherein there is no death, and also that all identities are at-one with the Father. In this uplifting of thought it was seen that there can be no death to the real man, or spiritual idea; that mortality is all that can die. Of those who realize this truth it may be truly said, "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power."
To pass through such an experience is to advance a step in the Science of Mind, and to comprehend better the term "Christian Science Mind-healing," as used by Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.—Northbrook, Pennsylvania.
