Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us on page 70 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Mortal existence is an enigma. Every day is a mystery." Those two sentences express perfectly just how I felt before I became a student of Christian Science. I was wondering continuously why I was here, what I was here for, and what the hereafter we heard so much about could be like. Christian Science has answered these questions satisfactorily for me, teaching me that heaven and hell are not localities but states of thought. Since my earliest recollection I had had a desire to know something about the Bible, and I had tried hard to read and study and understand it; but not until Christian Science unlocked its treasures of Truth and Love did I understand what I read there.
I have been healed of a bowel trouble of long standing, for which I took medicine daily for a great many years. The healing of physical ills is small in comparison with the healing of traits of character, such as restlessness, discontent, jealousy, envy, resentment, and so forth.
I graduated from a school of nursing, where I saw many people spend much money and many weary years searching for health. At that time sickness was far more real to me than health, but Christian Science has taught me that health is more real than sickness and far more contagious. To learn that God did not create or cause to be created sickness, sin, poverty, want, and woe, gave me great peace of mind.
