Testimonies of Healing

It is with sincere gratitude that I...

From the March 1931 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with sincere gratitude that I write this testimony. I am a butcher by trade. One morning, six years ago, I cut my right thumb at the knuckle joint. The cut was so deep that an artery was severed. I had no bandages at hand, so I went to a near-by chemist's shop. The chemist was alarmed and refused to accept responsibility. She advised me to see a doctor at once. However, I succeeded in obtaining a bandage from her. I did not go to see a doctor, but instead went to see a Christian Science practitioner. It was all so wonderful. The thumb was not sore. I did not stop working, and was not inconvenienced in any way. The loss of blood was considerable, but I was not faint. The same afternoon I drove a party to a Christian Science lecture in my car, a distance of over one hundred miles, returning on an unfamiliar road. The next day I took the bandage off, and in a few days the thumb was perfectly healed, without a scar.

At a time when I had been a student of Christian Science for three years and had had many beautiful demonstrations, I was assailed with a difficulty which claimed to be very serious. I had a seizure: the side of my face was drawn up, my eye swollen to twice its size, and my mouth drawn to one side. I worked on this problem for a few days, but did not receive any relief. I then asked help of a practitioner, and it was very lovingly given. At this time I could hardly speak. I experienced relief in a few hours, but was not healed until eleven days afterward. Each day brought a great unfolding of the truth, and I rejoice to say that as soon as I saw the truth sufficiently and obeyed it my perfect healing came.

Had this been all, I should have been most grateful, but at the same time I experienced a deep spiritual uplift; for I had been given joy for sorrow, harmony for discord, health for sickness; and I had no pain. My healing was perfect; and love reached every part of my home. I am more grateful than I can find words to express.—
