It is my great privilege to testify to the wealth of good that has been manifested to me through the study of Christian Science, revealed to this age by the unselfed love of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. I am truly thankful for the calm peace, joy, trust, health, and strength which I now enjoy. I am particularly grateful for the healing of what doctors term "neurasthenia," which followed an attack of influenza. The healing was very slow, but I learned many lessons during that time. I am very grateful to the loyal practitioners to whose steadfast courage, perseverance, and loving-kindness I owe much.
Discouragement, fear, and sorrow at the passing of loved ones brought me to the very "valley of the shadow of death." The practitioner who was with me told me to turn my back on it, and lovingly and tenderly explained that man never dies; that our loved ones are still living and loving. Then I could clearly see that life is a state of consciousness—eternal; that divine Mind controls all; that man is a spiritual being and inherits only good; that "there is no death, no inaction, diseased action, overaction, nor reaction," as Mrs. Eddy tells us on pages 428 and 429 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I am also very grateful for the love and tender compassion showered upon me by my fellow students, church members, friends, relatives, and neighbors. It was, indeed, as if the very windows of heaven were opened, and the love of God expressed brought healing in its wings.
I feel impelled to add that I learned not to be afraid of animal magnetism, mesmerism, mental malpractice, which are terms Mrs. Eddy uses for evil in any form. I learned to know that since God, good, is everywhere, every moment, evil has no power whatever. It is wonderful how God has protected and cared for me all my life.
