Christian Science came to us in an hour of dire need, when a loved one was very ill with pernicious anæmia, which several physicians said would prove fatal. A Christian Science practitioner was consulted and work was lovingly taken up, with the result that in the course of several months a change for the better was very noticeable. Needless to say, we were more than grateful. What an awakening it meant! The real work of mental house-cleaning had just begun. Unlovely traits of character and wrong thinking have, to a great degree, been replaced by the Christqualities, and each day I am striving and working for a better understanding of God, so as to be able to be of service to mankind and also to be more loving and compassionate and to see man as Jesus saw him, sinless and perfect.
Mrs. Eddy has written (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 389; Poems, p. 4):
"Love is our refuge; only with mine eye
Can I behold the snare, the pit, the fall:
His habitation high is here, and nigh,
His arm encircles me, and mine, and all."
