It would be impossible to tell of all the benefits I have experienced in Christian Science, which has met my every need since babyhood. It has been a source of help and protection in every way, and physical disturbances have been comparatively few and quickly healed. I have had several instantaneous healings, including the adjustment of a dislocation of a small finger bone. Little discomfort was experienced, and the bone slipped back into place during a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I have had no more difficulty with it. Another time, in carrying a kettle of boiling water across the room, I tripped, spilling the water down my side. Declaration of the truth as taught in Christian Science immediately relieved the pain and prevented any after effects, except a slight redness, which soon disappeared.
Probably due to the fact that I have been so protected from physical discomfort since childhood, the most outstanding proof of the efficacy of Christian Science was at the birth of our two children. Throughout both experiences I was free from man-made laws, as active as usual, strong and well. The physician was not seen until he stepped into the room to conform with the laws of the state.
Christian Science is of inestimable value in rearing children, and it has healed me in a large measure of fear for them. Recently the little boy while playing with a carriage clasp put it in his mouth to open it. It has a strong spring, and before he could remove it, it fastened on his tongue. He screamed, and on reaching him I saw that his mouth was full of blood. It took a second or two to unclasp the spring, for it had gone through the tongue, but I declared the truth aloud meanwhile, and by the time he had rinsed his mouth with water he had ceased crying; then he went on about his play. It caused no more discomfort, and we rejoiced that we had experienced such a proof of God's care.
