I have had many blessings through Christian Science, both through my own understanding and with the help of loving, faithful practitioners and friends. I had been under the care of doctors all my life, faithfully following their instructions, but continually growing worse. If it had not been for our three small boys and my husband I should have had no desire to keep on living. Now I am happy in my work, and useful, glorifying God in all things.
When I had been in Science only ten months, and just a month before our first little girl came, I had a proof of God's presence that has helped me much through other trials. Our youngest boy, then three years of age, was kicked on the side of the head by a horse. It was two hours from the time he was last seen until he was found in this condition. I walked to meet him as he was being led by his brother. He did not know me, but I turned my thought to God for guidance. Half an hour later when his father came in from the field, the boy seemed no better; he was bleeding profusely from a small place in the forehead. I asked if a practitioner could be called, and the remark was made, "If anyone is called it will be a doctor." I turned and looked at the boy. He was looking at me and knew me, and the bleeding had stopped. I had taken my stand for Christian Science, although I did not know how I was to get the aid, for I was young in Science and felt I did not know enough. Thank God I was led to stand fast, instantly. The child rested well after that, ate a good supper, and slept well through the night, waking only once. The next day my sister, a trained nurse, came unexpectedly. She took his temperature and said there was no fever, and his pulse was good. He played about on his bed that day, slept through the night, and the next day was up, dressed, and completely healed. There is no scar to remind us of the accident.
I have been healed of headaches, backache, varicose veins, foot trouble, a broken arch, stomach trouble, constipation, nose bleeding, kidney trouble, and various other difficulties. I am also grateful for the healing of my husband from an illness that might, I am told, have resulted in death. I am grateful for healing and for protection from so-called serious contagion.
