I have long cherished a sincere desire to express my gratitude for the help I have received through the study and application of the truths of Christian Science Mind-healing. Though I have come, perhaps, but a few steps in my journey Spiritward, I have had many clear demonstrations of the ever-presence of God, good, and the power of divine Mind.
One of my first demonstrations was over blood poisoning. This began in the small toe and extended up the limb to the knee, threatening to be very serious; but I was able to overcome the fear and swelling in a few hours by the constant application of pure, right thinking. I have been healed, with the aid of a loving practitioner, of sick headaches accompanied by extreme nausea. I had endured these headaches at frequent intervals since early childhood, and can never be too grateful for this healing. A paralyzed palate caused by antitoxin administered during an attack of diphtheria, which had caused embarrassment for several years, became normal while I continued to study the Lesson-Sermons as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly.
I am particularly grateful for the overcoming of a nervous breakdown. I was also at times engulfed with fear and an oversensitive disposition. This condition was gradually overcome, and the period proved to be one of spiritual growth and regeneration. Two of the senses, taste and smell, which were entirely lost at that time, were restored. From this experience I learned the importance of church membership, for strength came to me through membership in a local church. I came to realize the truth contained in the statement in "No and Yes" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (p. 26): "All real being represents God, and is in Him. In this Science of being, man can no more relapse or collapse from perfection, than his divine Principle, or Father, can fall out of Himself into something below infinitude."
