It is with a grateful heart that I write this testimony. My first healing took place a number of years ago. From girlhood I had suffered with anaemia; I tried all materia medica had to offer, but was no better, and had reached the point where I had no desire to live. A friend gave me a Christian Science Sentinel, and while reading it I was much impressed with the truth that God does not send sickness. I bought the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. The first service I attended in a Christian Science church met my need. The subject of the Lesson-Sermon was "Probation after Death." Words can never express the change in my thought after that service. I wanted to live and be useful. I had treatment for ten days from a loving practitioner. Two statements of truth gave me courage: that God is my Life, and that "blood never gave life and can never take it away" (Science and Health, p. 376).
A position was offered me during this experience, and was accepted. During the years that have passed I have never been absent from my post on account of sickness. To me this means much. Many physical ailments have been overcome, some slowly, others instantaneously. Warts on my right hand, an eruption on my face, and the effects of so-called poison ivy on my arms, have all been overcome, through knowing that beauty is a quality of Mind. In a measure grief and the thought of separation were overcome when my mother and two brothers passed on, by knowing that Life is eternal. The understanding that God's law is ever operative to guide and protect and comfort all His children has never failed me when I have been honest and obedient to the First Commandment.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for class instruction; grateful to God, the Giver of all good; to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for the textbook, which is the "key" to the Scriptures. Many passages in the Bible have been illuminated through reading Science and Health. Before Christian Science came into my life the Bible was a closed book. I also wish to express my gratitude for all the activities of the Christian Science movement throughout the world. I can truly say that the light of Truth has brought joy and peace in place of darkness; and I am humbly grateful. — Great Neck, New York,
