IMMORTAL MEASUREMENTS

From the January 1934 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THOSE who have reached that point of mental development where they appreciate the value of, but have not yet attained, the understanding which readily distinguishes the worthless from the worth-while, may turn to the study of Christian Science to acquire this discernment; for this Science teaches the unreality of evil and the reality of good.

As a musician learns through the study of the science of music that discord is no part of harmony, in fact is unknown to harmony, so one learns through the study of Christian Science that in the Science of Life good alone is real; therefore evil is untrue, unreal, and vanishes as its nothingness is perceived.

One who recently sent some Christian Science literature to an interested friend received this reply: "I thoroughly agree with all of it—in fact I agree with everything Christian Science teaches, but I do not see that it gives any proof of immortality." A later conversation brought out that this friend based his conclusion upon only a slight understanding of the fundamental teachings of Christian Science, and that he was ostensibly endeavoring to measure immortality with mortal measurements; also that he was attempting to apply the sense of immortality he had in thought to mortal man and matter—a self-evident contradictory line of reasoning.
