Testimonies of Healing

I can never say how grateful I am...

From the October 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I can never say how grateful I am that Christian Science was brought to me. In September, 1933, my son was lying in a hospital seriously ill with enteric fever and several complications, each one of which the doctors said was sufficient in itself to be fatal After five weeks, when I was desperate, a neighbor came to me and asked whether I would care to see a Christian Science practitioner. Having been reared in a Jewish atmosphere, I was very doubtful, not knowing anything about this wonderful movement. I reluctantly consented, however, and the next day a practitioner called and talked to me for about an hour. I understood little of what she was telling me, but that same afternoon as I was entering the hospital, almost all the mental agony and fear seemed to leave me. From the time that the practitioner first gave our son absent treatment he began to improve. The hospital staff looks upon his recovery as a miracle.

My sincere thanks go to the doctors and nurses, who did all they could for my son; and I am ever grateful to the practitioner and to friends who have since tried to make me understand a little of this healing truth. I have much yet to overcome, but I shall press on, knowing that the only way I can show my gratitude to God for the healing and for the peace and happiness that have already come to me, is to try to live in the way Christian Science teaches us.

I am greatly indebted for all the literature, which is invaluable to me, giving me much food for spiritual thought. The teachings of Christ Jesus, as propounded by Mrs. Eddy, have made a lasting impression upon me, and I am very grateful for what she has done and is doing in re-presenting to the world the teachings of the Master.—
