"My peace I give unto you," said Christ Jesus, "not as the world giveth, give I unto you." What was this peace which the Master gave to his followers, and wherein did it differ from what the world had to offer?
As the character of the Christ was revealed in Jesus, it became evident, to those who had eyes to see, that the inspiration of his every word and deed lay in his unity with the Father. And in that unity was peace, the only peace which can abide. "For he is our peace," wrote Paul in his epistle to the Ephesians.
In his oneness with God and his singleness of purpose and achievement, Jesus let the will of God be done throughout his earthly mission. In demonstration of the truth, he put to silence the evidence of universal mortal belief and set men free from sin, disease, and death. He came that they might have life; and that they might have it more abundantly; that they might have the truth which makes men free; an understanding of the Love which is saying continually to each one of us, "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine;" that they might have the peace which is conscious oneness with God. And he did this because he knew the Father and what the Father's good pleasure was for His children.
