AWAKE!

From the October 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The world says that I walk alone—
How little does it know!
The world keeps sounding in my ears
Its own uncertain doubts and fears,
Its dread of what the passing years
May hold, as on I go.

The world says that I walk alone—
How little can it tell!
Life points the shining, upward way,
Truth guides and guards my path today,
Love gently whispers, Come what may,
He doeth all things well.

The world says that I walk alone—
How little does it see!
Each hour new assurance brings,
My heart looks up, and softly sings,
I feel the touch of angel wings
Forever close to me.

God's children never are alone,
No matter how it seems.
A Love beyond all human ken,
Beyond all words of tongue or pen,
Is here to heal each heartache—when
We waken from our dreams!
