TEACH ME TO PRAY

From the October 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not for more worldly gain,
Lord, do I pray;
But for more gratitude
Ask I this day.

Open my dullard eyes
That I may see
Only Thy truth is real,
Witnessing Thee.

Teach me that loving is
Seeing Thy work;
Teach me that giving means
Never to shirk,

When Love demands of me
Tasks I would slight;
Let me more gratefully
Serve Thee for right,

Striving to speak Thy word
From day to day,
Turning from sense to Soul;
Teach me to pray.

Not for myself alone
Ask I the way;
But for my brother man,
Teach me to pray.
