Christian Science is the greatest blessing in my life. I was very slow about accepting this means of understanding ever-present Love, which I needed more than anything else. Obstacles appeared to grow in my path. I had known many Christian Scientists in America and I received love through them, but it was not until I was alone and ill, fifteen years ago, during a stay on Java, that I first sought help in reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and learned something about the meaning of prayer. But later I let myself be hindered from obeying the truth. The years following were filled with learning to care for my babies, and I soon discovered that I could not continue in the old customs of fear which were around me.
When my eldest child at the age of five asked me questions about God as a person of whom he had heard from others, I saw I could not answer him without teaching myself more of Christian Science. I did so; and I began to rely entirely upon Christian Science in all difficulties, and it has never failed me. I feel that my present happiness and peace are due to a growing understanding. During the last five years we, as a family, have met all our problems through Christian Science, sometimes with help from practitioners. I have personally experienced instantaneous healing, as well as more delayed results, which have caused me to learn my lesson well.
I have seen children's diseases avoided, or quickly cured; sprains and wounds healed; two cases of eyesight improved—one person laid aside glasses, the other was healed before being obliged to wear them; harmonious occupation and friendships established in unexpected places; high temper controlled, and continuous improvement shown in the happiness and health of the members of my family.
