In loving gratitude I desire to bear testimony to the fact that Christian Science heals.
When, in desperation, I sought Christian Science, all I knew about it was that it purported to be a healing method devoid of drugs. For fourteen years I had been afflicted with an aggravated and aggressive case of chilblains. The attacks were not confined to cold weather, but would often come on in mild seasons. On occasions I would have to leave my business during office hours, return home and apply one of the latest remedies that had been suggested, as a means of alleviating the suffering. The inconvenience of incapacitated hands and feet was great. Many times I would say, half in earnest, that with the next severe recurrence I would try Christian Science! Doctors stated there was no permanent relief for this condition. Having reached the end of all material resources, I turned unreservedly to Christian Science for help. The only words spoken by the practitioner after listening to my case, were, "We will now take 'a cup of cold water in Christ's name'" (see Science and Health, p. 570). The next day the symptoms reappeared, so I made another call, convinced that some vital change was being effected in my thought. That was the end of the annoying difficulty which had persisted for so long.
This beautiful demonstration led me to procure a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, as well as the Christian Science Quarterly, for there was a fervent longing to have this vitalizing power unfold in my consciousness. Scarcely a day has passed since without some study of the Bible and Science and Health. Unremitting spiritual effort eventually emancipates the captive of mortal sense! This is only one of the many beautiful experiences I have had over a long period of time.
