Testimonies of Healing

Several years ago I was under...

From the December 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Several years ago I was under medical treatment, and after several doctors had informed my family and me that my earthly career was drawing to an end, a friend of mine advised me to try Christian Science. He rendered me some very valuable assistance; but not knowing anything about Christian Science I hesitated to give up my belief in medical aid and delayed following his recommendation until I had arrived at about the same conclusion as that of the medical specialist. Finally one morning, while in a mood of despair, having visited five doctors, I decided that I would try Christian Science.

In the telephone directory I located the Christian Science Reading Room for that city. I went there and was informed by the lady in charge that there were no doctors in Christian Science, but that there were practitioners. She directed me to the nearest one, and I was met by a very kind lady. I was feeling so terribly despondent that I thought I should not be able to leave her office without assistance, and told her so. I also attempted to inform her of the various ills with which the medical profession claimed I was afflicted. She gave me a Christian Science Sentinel and asked that I read an article entitled "Invariableness." While I was perusing the article the light of divine Love broke through the darkness of despair and I was instantly healed of what the medical specialists had pronounced cancer of the stomach, heart disease, and hardening of the arteries. I had been a user of tobacco for many years, but after receiving the treatment I threw away all my tobacco and medicine and began to eat and relish solid food, something that fear had kept me from doing for more than a year. Six months after this healing I had increased in weight more than fifty pounds.

I have since had occasion to call on Christian Science practitioners, each call always resulting in a beautiful demonstration; and it would be ungrateful of me indeed should I not express my gratitude to divine Love for all the blessings I have received and for "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" given to the world by that wonderful woman, Mary Baker Eddy; also for the beautiful lessons and demonstrations I have had, which have assisted me in throwing off the false claims of error.—
