In grateful acknowledgment of...

From the March 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

IN grateful acknowledgment of what Christian Science has done for me in the past years and is still doing, I give this testimony. I took up the study of Christian Science for a condition which had been diagnosed as nervousness, causing severe stomach trouble and extreme melancholia. I was also in a serious condition mentally and physically. After being treated by a physician for many months and getting worse, I was advised to consult with a renowned nerve specialist, which I did. Not gaining any relief from that source I decided to try Christian Science, for I felt that if God could not help me, nothing else could. The healing came, though rather slowly, for there were many false beliefs to be eradicated.

Since that time many problems have been overcome, such as severe colds, cuts, burns, headaches, diphtheritic sore throat, and grippe; and when my parents passed on, the belief of separation was entirely eliminated. Some of these healings were brought about by my own understanding and some with the help of practitioners. I am happy that I can sing with the Psalmist, "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."

This testimony would be incomplete if I failed to give thanks to Mrs. Eddy for giving to the world the spiritual interpretation of the Bible and teaching us how to awake and to know that, as she says in "Christian Healing" (p. 9), "Life in matter is a dream: sin, sickness, and death are this dream. Life is Spirit; and when we waken from the dream of life in matter, we shall learn this grand truth of being." I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for active service in the latter, and for class instruction.—
