PERSPECTIVE

From the March 1936 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A DICTIONARY defines "perspective" in part as "the aspect of an object of thought from a particular standpoint." This definition is interesting to the student of Christian Science, for he sees that a right spiritual standpoint, involving alertness and clear, scientific thinking, must be maintained.

A true and clear spiritual perspective is as important to the demonstration of the truth in Christian Science as is the proper focusing of the photographer's camera lens in successful portraiture. When one's mental position regarding himself, his business, his family, or his country is based on material concepts and is therefore unsupported by God's law, it is always erroneous. God is Mind. God is Love and Truth. Perfect Mind, intelligence, cannot create error or commit any act foreign to its divine nature. Divine Love never causes discord or evil. Infinite Truth leaves no room for its opposite, for the lie of inharmony, discouragement, sickness, failure, or loss. These arguments of limitation are admitted into human experience by a mistaken, false, unreal sense of things.

Blind conclusions and material reasoning, which come from so-called mortal mind, are responsible for all the ills and discords of mankind, but have no foundation in spiritual fact. God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," and the perfect man of God's creating always intelligently reflects the eternally good qualities and attributes of God. Whatever appears contrary to this forever fact is neither real nor true.
