It was with the greatest joy that I turned to Christian Science when it was presented to me many years ago. I had searched and read, and longed for something that would solve the mysteries of this mortal life and give me something solid to build on. This Christian Science has done, for it is indeed the truth, and has since then met my every need. Although at the time I was not in need of physical healing, it was unspeakable joy to know that the sorrows, diseases, and injustices of this world could be overcome in the way that Jesus proved they could be; and I rejoiced that in this age, through the wonderful spirituality of our revered Leader, humanity could be freed now and always. The Bible became a joy and inspiration as Christian Science began to reveal its wonderful truths.
One of the most striking healings occurred at the time of the birth of one of my children, more than fourteen years ago. I went through the experience with the help of a certified Christian Science nurse and a practitioner, from whom I could have only absent treatment. A few days after the birth, the nurse told me that the baby had been born with a club foot. She had told the practitioner at the time of birth, so that when the nurse chose what seemed the right moment to tell me, the healing work had already commenced. My own thought was so filled with gratitude for the help and support I had received that, as I saw the deformity, I knew, with an increased sense of joy and certainty, that divine Love would meet the condition. Within four weeks the healing was complete, and the child developed normally. I had added cause for deep gratitude later, when I saw her win first prizes for running and jumping in her school sports.
The experience which contributed most to my own spiritual growth was the healing of a severe nervous breakdown six years ago. For some time I had been lulled into inactivity with regard to Christian Science, being too much taken up with material interests. After struggling in vain for some time to destroy the symptoms through my own understanding I found myself in a desperate condition, suffering from complete prostration, insomnia, and an inability to stand the slightest sound. My husband called in a doctor, who pronounced it a collapse, as my vitality was very low. At this stage I applied for Christian Science treatment, which was most lovingly and patiently given, and through this I was able to correct much wrong thinking and to establish myself on the rock of spiritual Truth. I was completely healed physically and mentally in three months and have ever since enjoyed splendid health.
