Testimonies of Healing

It is with deep gratitude that I...

From the October 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with deep gratitude that I desire to make known the inestimable blessings which have come to me through Christian Science.

I am grateful for the many physical healings I have received, among them those of quinsy, influenza, and burns. The freedom from the fear of diseases and their aftereffects has brought to me a peace beyond what words can express.

It is my joyous privilege to serve as First Reader in the Christian Science branch church of which I am a member. On one Wednesday evening, about six o'clock, I found myself suffering from a severe cold and scarcely able to speak. The suggestion came to me, You will not be able to read; do not go to the desk tonight. I knew that God enables us to do whatever it is our duty to do; so, turning to divine Love for strength and guidance, I resisted this aggressive mental suggestion, as our Leader instructs us to do in the By-Law "Alertness to Duty" on (Church Manual, Art. VIII, Sect. 6). I read from our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, the statement page 380, "Truth is always the victor." I rejoiced that "of mine own self" I could "do nothing," but that through Christ, Truth, I could do all things. I recognized the fact that since I was made in God's image and likeness I was perfect and need not yield to error's suggestions. Needless to say, I was at my post and performed my duties faithfully and well; and it was with great joy that I could sing, "Praise, my soul, the King of heaven."
