Testimonies of Healing

Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health...

From the December 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 376), "Destroy fear, and you end fever." She also says, when speaking of a mother's fears governing her child (p. 154), "The law of mortal mind and her own fears govern her child more than the child's mind governs itself, and they produce the very results which might have been prevented through the opposite understanding." I have proved this to be true.

Before I came into Christian Science, I was very fearful, particularly with regard to the well-being of my little girl. I was quite sure something would happen to her. I watched her every expression, and anticipated every false step she might take. When she was about six years old she developed a form of stomach trouble which the doctors and a specialist, who examined her from time to time, were unable to diagnose. Periodically she would become tired and listless, have high fever, and be unable to eat anything for days. After trying every material remedy, I was led to visit a Christian Science practitioner. I knew nothing of Christian Science, but her direct and reasonable statements very much impressed me. She told me that my fear was holding my child in bondage; that God was her Father and Mother; that she was created in His image and likeness and that if I would release her, she would unfold, under His care, as naturally and as beautifully as do the flowers. The idea that her life did not depend on my care, and that I could rely on God, destroyed the fear, and the fever ended. She has never had a return of the trouble.

I have also proved that all good comes from God, not persons. Under very distressing circumstances, I was parted from what seemed to be the source of all my happiness. When I was able to wake out of this dream of suffering, I was able to prove, step by step, that since God is ever present good and Love, I could not possibly be robbed of anything real or good. And this truth has been made manifest humanly in faithful and loving friendships, adequate supply, and a happy home.
