Out of my own experience I should like to say to anyone who is struggling with a long-delayed healing, "Be of good cheer! and increase your confidence, for Christian Science heals, and it always will heal." The difficulty is not with Christian Science, for that is God's perfect law. In my own case I think I did not co-operate very well with the practitioners. I did not sufficiently realize the unreality of the material condition or insist on the spiritual fact of perfection. Then, too, it took me a long time to overcome the recurring temptation to have a physical examination or medical diagnosis.
Some ten or twelve years ago, I noticed that I was not quite normal physically—that certain functions were not what they should be; but I paid practically no attention to the condition, and gave little thought to it. That went on for perhaps five years, when quite suddenly I found that a disease of a serious nature had developed—one that needed careful attenion.
During the next five years I had several practitioners, each one a splendid worker, a known and acknowledged metaphysician, and each one gave me wonderful help. As I left them I felt that what little of the belief might remain I could clear up for myself. The last time, I was sure the healing was complete, but the difficulty came back again, and in my distress, having had the great privilege of class instruction, I turned to review my own thinking in the light of that teaching, searching for the truth which I knew healed. As I searched, these words stood out: "Find God and you will be healed." Could it be possible that I had not yet found God for myself?
