Testimonies of Healing

From the September 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In September, 1907, I took up the study of Christian Science for a healing, and at the same time called upon a Christian Science practitioner, who in previous years had been my English teacher in high school.

Prior to coming into this beautiful truth I had undergone a major and a minor operation. Even then I was far from enjoying good health. It became necessary to call the physician one evening to administer an opiate to relieve intense pain, for the trouble had been pronounced acute appendicitis, and unless I consented to an operation, he feared serious results.

A neighbor called to see me, and when I informed her what was confronting me, she immediately related a healing, accomplished in one treatment, through the prayers of the very practitioner I later called, of a growth in her throat. My faith in God's power increased, even though it was only a blind faith. As soon as I was able to get to a telephone, I called for help. I shall always be grateful to God, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that the days of so-called miracles have not ceased.
