SPIRITUAL MIGHT

From the September 1938 issue of The Christian Science Journal

That all might belongs to God is the theme of many of the Psalms. The Psalmist, having risen to a clear realization of the might and majesty of divine Mind, declared, in the first verse of the twenty-seventh Psalm, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

All healing in Christian Science tends to increase spiritual might and thereby expel fear. When Mrs. Eddy discovered the Science of Mind, or exact knowledge of God, which Jesus successfully practiced, she made this knowledge available to all. There is no secret, no mystery, connected with the use of spiritual might to destroy material error. All who are willing to study the Scriptures, in the light which Christian Science throws upon them, may learn of God's power and prove it for themselves, and also on behalf of others.

On the infinitude of God all real knowledge must rest. To define Deity Mrs. Eddy employs seven terms, as found on page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where she gives a comprehensive definition of God as "incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." Study of these words reveals much that is interesting. God, Spirit, is the source of the life which reflects Life. Principle means origin or source. The infinitude of God's goodness, the boundlessness of divine Love, the endless order of Life—true knowledge of these confers spiritual power.
