Speaking in the name of God, the prophet Isaiah cried, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters." In a land where drinkable water was often difficult to obtain, this figurative invitation of the prophet must have meant much.
The invitation, "Come ye to the waters," was given new meaning by Christ Jesus when by Jacob's well, at Sychar, he said to the woman of Samaria, "Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."
The teachings of Jesus reveal God as the Life of spiritual man, as his only Father—the source and origin of all real being. Knowledge of this divine fact must of necessity be living water—inspiring, invigorating, health-giving—to all who are thirsting for the truth of being as it exists in immortal Mind. "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent," said the Master.
