TRANSPARENCY

From the January 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Lord, when those in trouble come to me
For help and comfort in their seeming woes,
Let me at once in healing ministry
See man as faultless, in the light that glows
Before Thy throne of grace; so may I view
The glory of Thy perfect image there.
To see man as Thou seest him is true
Perception; and my quickened sight must share
This wonder with them, that they may behold
Thy love, which they in loving may profess.
The error is not man, 'twas sense that rolled
Its shadow to bedim true consciousness.

Within the radiance of spiritual thought
The shadow vanishes, with darkened sense,
And man beholds himself divinely wrought,
The very proof of Thy omnipotence.
Thine is the power, and Thine the glory, Lord;
My words are but the windows for Thy light.
Help me to keep my thinking in accord
With true reflection, beautiful and bright.
May those who come find nothing to obscure
Their vision, and, though seeing naught of me,
Give gratitude for selfhood clear and pure,
That brings the light through its transparency.
