Testimonies of Healing

I should like to testify to the...

From the August 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to testify to the fact that I owe my life to Christian Science. Two doctors had pronounced the verdict that I was suffering from advanced heart trouble. Although I myself knew nothing of Christian Science at the time, I had heard of healings received through this Science by people known to me. In my extremity I called at the office of a practitioner, and to my great delight was instantaneously healed. No words of mine could tell of the joy and gratitude then experienced, and I immediately commenced the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Many have been the occasions of joyous thanks for the instant availability of this healing religion in the seven years since my first healing. An outstanding experience was that of completely painless childbirth. Three months earlier I had had an internal displacement which made it difficult for me to walk, so I requested help from a Christian Science practitioner. In less than forty-eight hours I was completely free, and then arranged for the practitioner to give me treatment at the birth of my babe. As the time approached I enjoyed most excellent health and freedom, studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly each day and having occasional visits from the practitioner.

On the actual day, I received warning of the event about half past six in the morning and telephoned to the practitioner. At the same time I called the district nurse. I had no medical attention. Shortly after half past eight my husband telephoned the practitioner, telling him of the harmonious birth. From the time I telephoned to the practitioner there was not the slightest pain or distress of any description—a very different experience from what I had endured on two previous occasions. Before ten o'clock the practitioner called, and I was sitting up in bed, having just enjoyed a good breakfast, and feeling entirely well.
