I came to Christian Science, not...

From the December 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I came to Christian Science, not for physical healing, but because I had witnessed my sister's healing of organic trouble some thirty years ago. She had been to many physicians, who told her they could do no more for her. Then a friend told her about Christian Science. She asked for Christian Science treatment and was soon healed. She was so happy about this that she gave me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and although I thought at the time I was not in need of it, I read it occasionally, and also lent it to friends to read. But the time came when I realized that many undesirable mental traits needed correction.

My first healing was the overcoming of constipation. Since then I have had many other healings, but the most outstanding proof of the ever-availability of the law of Life came at a time when I was run over by an automobile. On regaining consciousness I was taken to my home, and through the loving work of a practitioner and the realization of the sustaining power of Truth, I received instantaneous relief. A member of my family thought I should be X-rayed because of bruises all over my body, and the doctor was amazed that there were no bones broken except a slight fracture of one knee.

I am sincerely grateful to God for giving this wonderful Science to the world and to Mrs. Eddy, who was pure enough to receive it. I deem it a privilege to be a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church and to have had the blessing of class instruction.—
