Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my gratitude...

From the October 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. Through its study I have learned that to "pray without ceasing" is a practical possibility. I cannot hope to enumerate the blessings which have come to me through applying this Science to my everyday problems, the big ones and the trivial ones. I should like, however, to refer to the great scope of the defense that Christian Scientists learn is at their command when they know that God is omnipotent.

Before I learned of Christian Science, I was subject to periods of intense melancholia. I learned Science slowly, one truth at a time, until I found indeed that God is All. Moods and depressed thinking vanished, although no specific work was ever done for them. I simply learned the peace "which passeth all understanding." I found that we cannot, and need not, depend upon person, place, or thing for our happiness.

The summer after I was convinced that Christian Science is the truth, and God the Principle of our lives, I had to overcome the effects of ivy poisoning. There was a belief of re-currency, and severity to the verge of blood poisoning. I was in bed for two weeks, but with the patient and good work of a practitioner, the trouble finally disappeared.
